Our Section hosted its annual event to help local troops earn their Merit Badges

In February the AWS Blackhawk Section in conjunction with Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill., hosted its annual event to help local troops earn their badges.

“It started with a safety program on Friday night for all of the scouts participating”. said Ryan Forsell, a sales representative at Superior Joining Technologies, Inc., and 2018/19 Blackhawk Section Chairman who helped organize the donation items for the event, as the RVC Instructor’s (George Bane, Larry Clevenger & Ron Ashelford) taught the Boy Scouts welding processes and techniques. “Saturday was the fun part where the Scouts learned shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and oxyfuel proceses at Rock Valley College. The final event was welding together plasma cut eagle templates that were donated by Lincoln Electric & the Blackhawk Section. Airgas, Weldstar, and Welders Supply Company donated safety glasses, coats, beanies, and welding gloves for each scout participating.”
