June 2019 Section Notice - Election Results

Greetings AWS Central Louisiana Section Members & Friends,

At our May meeting we elected the following individuals to sit on the Executive Committee for the AWS Central Louisiana Section 509, they are as follows:

Thomas Malo – Chairman
Mike Stuchlik – 1st Chair
Sean Jones – 2nd Chair
Brandon Dubroc – Treasurer
Sammy Bass – Secretary

The newly elected committee was seated unopposed.

June begins our new fiscal year and I am happy to report that Section 509 finances are on sound footing but by no means robust. Throughout the year we conduct fund raising to allow the section to promote welding educational presentations to local Junior High School, High School, and Junior Collages in the Central and North Louisiana Parishes. In the past our fund raising efforts have allowed us to do the following;

Purchased a Lincoln Electric Virtual welding machine, which we take to Career Day events throughout the many Parishes we support. Our current estimate is we have demonstrated welding by using this machine to 10,000 student plus.
We have establish a Scholarship Endowment allowing the Central Louisiana Section 509 the ability to award an annual $1000.00 Scholarship. To date the section has awarded a $1000.00 Scholarship in 2018 and 2019.
We have purchased AV equipment to allow the section to perform enhanced presentations.
For the last 3 years we have sponsored the AWS Central Louisiana Section High School Welding Competition. Last year’s competition involved 23 students from 11 High Schools traveling from 5 Central Louisiana Parishes.
The Section has made a $2000.00 donation to the CLTCC student scholarship fund.
Helped secure a $25,000.00 Grant for CLTCC for new welding equipment.

All of this has been achieved in our first 5 years of being chartered.

All of these accomplishments would not be possible if not for the efforts of our membership and the dedication of our Executive Committee.

Currently we are Raffling off a choice of either a LSU or New Orleans Saints Fire Pits.
