Do you have a cutting torch or use one at work? It may be a good idea to come to this month’s AWS Cleveland Section meeting to brush up on torch safety. The meeting will be on Tuesday, March 12th at the Toscana Party Center in Cuyahoga Hts., OH. with a 6:00 PM Networking Reception followed by dinner and the presentation at 7:30 PM.

Paul Greenwell, of Harris Products Group, will give a presentation on gas safety and equipment set-up. Paul will also discuss some of the pros and cons of different types of fuel gasses. Paul has worked in the welding industry for 45 years. He started out as a welding apprentice and has worked for several companies including Kemppi and Lincoln Electric. He is currently the District Sales Manager for Harris.

Before Paul starts his talk, he will draw a ticket for a door prize. The ticket will be good for a Harris HXT Extra Heavy Duty Iron Worker Kit. A ticket will be given to everyone who pays for a dinner. Additional tickets can be purchased for $2 dollars each. Proceeds will go to the AWS Cleveland Section Scholarship fund.

The meeting starts at 6:00 PM. We need an accurate head count to ensure there are enough meals for everyone. The cost of the dinner is $18 dollars ($10 for students) when reservations are made. Dinner rates are $20 ($11 students) when paying at the door without reservations.

SPRING SEMINAR
The Cleveland Section will be conducting a 4 class D1.1 seminar covering “Clause 3 Prequalification of WPSs”, “Clause 4 Qualification” of new WPSs and AWS B2.1 “Specification for Welding Procedure and Performance Qualification”. Classes begin on March 26, 2019 from 7 pm until 9 pm at Lincoln Electric. Contact Jim Myers at [email protected] for more information.
