Section Opportunities

Members of the AWS Columbia Section:

The Columbia Section is seeking leaders to ensure the Section can continue to provide value for the 368 active AWS Members – and countless others involved in the industry – in the Columbia area.

Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer roles are available for the coming year (one-year terms beginning in July) and allow individuals with an interest of applying existing leadership skills – or those who are interested in developing/refining leadership skills – to make a significant impact in an area they are passionate about.

Email AWS District 5 Director, Howard Record ([email protected]), to express your interest and learn more.

Not ready for an Executive Committee role but still want to help?
There are opportunities for anyone who is interested in becoming more involved to make an impact regardless of experience or free time. This is your Section, and we want it to deliver as much value for you as possible. The only way we can do that is by gaining your input. Have an idea for an outing that would interest members? Want to serve as a speaker for an upcoming meeting? Have a location that could host a Section meeting/event? Have special skills (marketing, social media, event planning, etc.) that you would like to share? Does your company have items to donate that the Section could raffle off?

Let us know how you would like to contribute to the development of the AWS Columbia Section, and we will gladly try to find the most appropriate way to engage you.

Thank you for your membership with the American Welding Society.

Sincerely,

Howard Record
AWS District 5 Director

About the American Welding Society:
The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919, as a nonprofit organization with a global mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying. AWS strives to move the industry forward in both thought and action, as well as inspire new generations to see the exciting career opportunities available today.

About AWS Sections:
AWS Sections are the foundation of AWS. These locally-based groups shape the continued strength and advancement of our global organization and the welding industry in general. All AWS Sections are driven by volunteers at the grassroots level and supported by resources from AWS World Headquarters. New initiatives from AWS HQ are making it easier for Section leaders to effectively coordinate Section activity and deliver more for those engaged at the Section level.
