Tour of the Amazon Fulfillment Center

AWS & CTS members on the 4th floor adjacent to thousands of product bins and transport robots.

On October 10, 2019, the AWS Columbus Section joined with other organizations from the Columbus Technical Societies to tour an Amazon fulfillment center and learn how it operates. The CMH-1 facility has an 855,000sq ft footprint with workspace on four floors. The tour provided insight into how IT, robotics and human machine interactions combine to efficiently receive, unpack & store, pick & pack and ship millions of products throughout central Ohio. Insight was also gained on how Amazon has teamed with Columbus State Community college, who have a welding program, to provide educational opportunities in many areas.
