Greetings AWS Section Members,
We will not be having a meeting in November but we would like to get a little information out to you. Hopefully, many of you will be blessed with the opportunity to attend FABTECH this year.
Our next meeting will be a plant tour on the 10th of December 2019 at Worthington Industries in Greeneville, TN. Worthington Industries manufactures cabs for equipment used in heavy industry. It will be a great tour and give you a chance to see some applications of GMAW using some of the latest equipment and manufacturing techniques. Mark your calendar now and more details will be announced in the future with specific times, plant address and possible meeting place to eat at before the tour.
Our recent tour at Komatsu in Duffield, VA provided our attending members into the many interesting aspects of mining equipment repair and rebuilding.
Remember that the applications open for 2020-21 Scholarships on December 1st and those applications can be completed online at scholarship.aws.org. This is a great way to ease the costs of welding education!
We have had some good attendance at our meetings this year and hope to continue that trend. If you have an idea for a meeting or plant tour that you would be interested in, let a section officer know.
Remember that our Section Library can be a useful resource for members needed an AWS Publication on short notice. Contact a section officer if you would like to know how to get access to an item in the library.
