November 2019 Meeting
Tour of GE Generators Manufacturing Facility
Thursday, November 21st, 2019
Power generation windmills are becoming more and more popular these days. As you drive by one have you ever wondered how they work…. or better yet how they are built? Well you are in luck as this November General Electric has graciously offered to open their doors to us and host our first plant tour of the year. Matt Harold, Facilities Engineer at GE Renewable Energy, will provide us with an introduction on GE followed by a plant tour of their manufacturing center.
As this is a plant tour, GE has asked us to be mindful of the following safety and security requirements to ensure everyone has a good tour. At the bottom of this meeting notice you will find detailed instructions/directions on how to access the facility.
- No one under the age of 18 allowed
- Long pants and closed toe shoes required
- Safety glasses required (If you wear eye glasses you need either side shields on your glasses or safety glasses that go over your eye glasses.)
- Check in at the guard gate and follow the road to parking lot
- Report to the guard shack for further instruction on entering
- No photos allowed during tour
Please post this meeting notice in an area around your school that is easily accessible to your welding students. As we are moving to Eventbrite for registration, students will need to start registering themselves to attend. You are more than welcome to forward them this meeting notice, but even easier simply print it out and they can scan the above QR Code with their phone to link to our Eventbrite registration page. Also, they can find our Eventbrite registration page via our AWS Mobile Section Eventbrite Organization page, our AWS Mobile Section website, or our Facebook page.
Please remember to connect with us via Facebook! Find us by searching “American Welding Society Mobile Section” or at www.facebook.com/AwsMobileSection. Here you can always find the latest updates on our meetings, events, or reach out to fellow friends and colleagues.
