Special Message from Section Chairman

Special Message from Section Chairman

Greetings welding community,

I hope this message finds everyone healthy and safe.

Our March event was a presentation by Mike Dortch from Alcotec.Mike gave those in attendance a very informative and entertaining presentation on welding aluminum. We are grateful for Mike traveling to do this presentation for our section.

Currently we are all experiencing things we probably never thought we would see. Schools have closed for the remainder of the year in Virginia, many businesses are closed for whoknows how long, and finding a roll of toilet paper has become something to be celebrated.

Due to the uncertainty of how long COVID19 will be affecting us, there will not be any Tidewater Section activities for the remainder of this current season.Unfortunately, we had some exciting things planned for April which is national welding month that we will have to try to bring back to our area next season. The section normally takes the summer months of June, July and August off so the interruption of our activities will hopefully be minimal. Our section executive committee will be meeting as soon as possible to start planning events for the 2020-2021 season, new volunteers are welcome. Thanks go out to all of our section volunteers who keep our section running and do so much behind the scene work to plan the meetings each month.

Please take time each day to say a prayer for the doctors, nurses and medical professionals who are working on the front lines trying to protect and heal us from this new virus.Let’s also pray for a quick cure of this virus so our world can get back to normal as soon as possible.

Respectfully,

Doug Carpenter
Tidewater Section Chairman
