The American Welding Society Foundation awards over $2 million annually for education and training in welding and related fields!<\/strong><\/p>

Students in the Baton Rouge Section may be eligible for the following scholarships:<\/p>

National, District, and Section Scholarships – Deadline March 1st for the following fall term<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

National Scholarships<\/a>
<\/strong>For students pursuing a specific degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Scholarships range from $3,000 – $5,000+.
<\/strong><\/p>

District Scholarships<\/a>
<\/strong>A minimum of $15,000 is available in each of AWS’s 22 Districts for students pursuing a degree or certificate in a welding or welding-related program. Scholarships typically range from $1,000 to $2,500+.<\/p>

George & Glenda Fairbanks – Baton Rouge Section Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>

Glenn M. Rhoades III Memorial Scholarship\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

This scholarship was established in memory of Glenn M. Rhoades III for a student in the Industrial Technology: Welding Technology Concentration program at Southeatern Louisiana University.<\/p>

Glenn spent more than 50 years working in metallurgy, welding, and metalworking.\u00a0 For the last several years, Glenn served on the Advisory Board at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he was instrumental in the development of the welding and inspection program. On many occasions he visited the school to give technical presentations, and he provided numerous tours of his foundry to classes at SELU.\u00a0 Glenn was passionate about inspiring young people to achieve their dreams, always stressing the importance of a strong work ethic.\u00a0<\/p>

He offered internships to students and hired many after they graduated.\u00a0 His scholarship will be awarded annually to an Industrial Technology student at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he is greatly missed after leaving an impact on so many.<\/p>

Welder Training Scholarship<\/strong><\/a>
For students seeking welder training in a certificate program less than two years in length through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training. Each District has a minimum of 25 – $1,000 scholarships to award.<\/p>

Applications are accepted January-November and selections are made on a rolling basis until the District awards the designated funds for the year.<\/p>
