Hello AWS Section Members,
There will be a Certified Welding Inspectors seminar followed by a test the week of March 18, 2018. The exam is Saturday March 24, 2018. Current CWI’s in need of their 9-year recertification may take the part B exam at this exam as well. The deadline for applications is February 12, 2018. Log into aws.org then the certification link for application and information.
The seminar and test will be held at the Carpenters Local 67 Training Center 750 Adams Street Dorchester, MA. All applications must be done through the AWS Certification portal on the AWS.org website. AWS Certification does not have a hotel affiliated with this seminar. There are several reasonably priced hotels nearby. Holiday Inn Express, Comfort inn, Ramada and Best Western. If you don’t want to commute every day please book your own hotel arrangements in advance.
Another item of importance is the 2018 Scholarships. The best place to find detailed information is through the AWS.org website under Education then Scholarships. There are six levels of scholarships.
- National Scholarship
- District Scholarship
- Section Named Scholarship
- Educator Scholarship
- Welder Training Scholarship
- International Scholarship
The dollar value of these scholarship range from $1,000.00 to $2,750.00. If it takes an hour to fill out an application that’s a pretty good rate of return of investment. District One has $20,000 in scholarship funds to award to qualified applicants.
