We had another successful tournament again this year thanks to all of you that donated for sponsorships or donated your time and efforts to this event. We at the Central Arkansas Section along with District 17 of the AWS, were very proud to award a total of $16,000 in scholarships this past May to Arkansas welding students attending Arkansas schools and of that $16,000 awarded, $9000 was raised directly from the efforts of our Section.
We ended up raising $18,000 from our benefit tournament this year that will be donated to the AWS Foundation towards the Thomas B. Schueck Memorial scholarship along with matching funds from Patrick Schueck, President and CEO of Lexicon-Inc, which will make a total donation of $36,000.00.
The AWS Foundation will match the donation again by 100% so the total donation will be another $72,000.00 going into the Thomas B. Schueck Memorial scholarship fund. This scholarship along with the John W. Bailey Memorial scholarship and the Stephen E. Harrison Memorial scholarship will provide scholarship money for the education and advancement of Arkansas welding students for years to come.
