Recap: College of the Sequoias and Fresno City College Joint Welding Competition – Apr 29

April 29, 2022 – College of the Sequoias; Tulare, CA
The top 5 student welders from College of the Sequoias competed against the 5 best student welders from Fresno City College in the first of what will hopefully become an annual welding competition between these two phenomenal welding programs. Students were challenged to perform a 12″ long 3F weld on 3/8″ plate using E7018 electrodes. District 22 Director Rob Purvis judged the event and presented the First Place winner Hunter Ahrens of Fresno City College with a $1,000 scholarship prize. Second and Third Place winners received a new grinder and gloves generously donated by local welding distributer Barnes Welding as well as various AWS publications donated by the Central Valley Section 176. Congrats to all the participants and sponsors of this event!
