Johnny Maitlen (Co-Founder of Kenosha EPC) is a US Army veteran and has received industry recognition in the field of welding, construction and quality throughout his 25+ year career. His career experiences range from pipelines and refineries to infrastructure, chemical and power projects (both fossil fuel and green energy). Johnny has overseen a wide range of projects from as small as $20K to as large as $1.4B, all of which was handled with the same care and attention to detail with an eye on the bottom line and client relations. While being a strong advocate for the trades and a leading example to the upcoming youth entering the industry, Johnny has been a continuous key note speaker for the American Welding Society (AWS), local Denver Vo-Tech Colleges and materials/welding consultant for DoE projects with the Colorado School of the Mines. He also volunteers his time as the developer of the new youth 4H welding program that once completed, will go statewide through the Colorado State University 4H program. Along with this, he is also the volunteer Blacksmith for the Plains Conservatory located in Aurora, CO, currently managed by the Denver Botanical Gardens, and teaches young and old alike the art of blacksmithing and the joy of creatively working with your hands.
Johnny currently serves as the Managing Director of Field Services and Co-founder of Kenosha EPC. He is a published author in the American Welding Journal, China Weldnet, European TIB Science and Technology, Nuclear Energy News and was a member of the research and development team for the Lincoln STT welding equipment & welding process as well as a key developer in the P91 SMAW root pass filler metal and technique with Bohler Thyssen that changed globally the power industries welding approach to this material.
In 2019, Johnny Maitlen was awarded the AWS CWI of the year from the American Welding Society District 20 which covers the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
Mr. Maitlen has spoken before on his years of experience all over the world; he brings his advice for the next generation looking for guidance on where all welding can take us!
