6th Annual Student Weld-off

Gentlemen,

I am so pleased to have you participating in the 6th Annual Student Weld-off.  We have worked hard to get things ready for this year’s competition and are looking forward to hosting all of you on February 17, 2017.
I have attached information for the competition. Click here to see the agenda.

A couple of quick notes:
-Coffee, snacks, bottled water, and lunch will be provided for all students and instructors.
-I am attaching a tentative agenda, as well as the project drawings.  Don’t hesitate to contact me, if you have questions or concerns.  I will send out any corrections/modifications, to everyone, if and when they are made.
-There is also attached a map and directions for the competition location, it is the same as last year.

For the first time this year, we will have our newly endowed AWS Section 154 Weld Strong Scholarship.  The scholarship will not be given to the winner, rather each student that competes will have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship and recipients will be named a little later in the school year.  There will be more information available during the competition.

Students should bring all of their own personal protection equipment (glasses, gloves, long sleeves, steel toe shoes, etc)
Students are also responsible for bringing appropriate tools (chipping hammer, wire brush, soap stone, clamps, squares, tapes, etc)
Files, templates, and jigs will not be allowed.

If you have alternates coming with you, or extra students, make sure they also have appropriate safety equipment to be around the welding and cutting areas.
