AWS Florida West Coast Section members toured the Air Products and Chemicals facility at Port Manatee on October 2nd. George Purvis gave a presentation that covered 75 years of Air Products including their various products and international presence. The Florida location produces the equipment sector of their business. Florida West Coast members toured the facility and fabrication processes used to make cryogenic Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) equipment. In keeping with AWS’s theme of advancing the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining processes, George Purvis is working with Lincoln Electric and our local Lincoln Electric representative, Brad Wickline, on process improvements to increase efficiencies when welding the thick aluminum pressure vessels.
