15th Annual Student Welder Competition
The AWS New Orleans Section held its 15th Annual Student Welder Competition at New Orleans Pipe Trades Training Center in Metairie, Louisiana on November 9, 2019.
Students from the Delgado Community College, Ironworkers Local Union #58 Apprenticeship Program, New Orleans Pipe Trades Apprenticeship Program, Nunez Community College, and River Parishes Community College competed in two levels of welding.
Food was provided by Rougarou BBQ and our Section Asst. Treasurer Joe Carbo. The Section 2nd Vice-Chairman, Mr. Al Theriot, fired up his pit and cooked as well. Door prizes and consumables were donated by Mr. Matthew Howerton with Lincoln Electric, Section Private Sector Student Adviser, Mr. Anthony DeMarco, and New Orleans Pipe Trades.
Special thanks to our Section Officers for organizing and judging the event. Also, a very special thank you to New Orleans Pipe Trades for hosting the event this year and every year.
