Delgado Community College Welding Student – Pellerin Milnor Plant Tour

Section Vice-Chairman, Bruce Hallila arranged for the Welding Students from Delgado Community College to visit his workplace and take a plant tour of the Pellerin Milnor Laundry Machine Facility in Kenner, Louisiana on March 13, 2020. Mr William Wilson, Welding Instructor, on the far left and Bruce A. Hallila, Welding Manager with Milnor and tour guide on the far right gave the DCC welding students an eye opening view of actual industrial welding of commercial laundry equipment. They witnessed the robotic GMAW welding of a large carbon steel frame, Mechanized GMAW seam welding of thin gage stainless steel shells & FCAW of thick stainless steel press cans. They saw how positioning of weldments in the flat increases the speed & productivity. They left with a greater sense of value in what can be accomplished in the field they are studying.

Milnor is a leading manufacturer in the commercial laundry machinery industry, and after over 70 years of expansion and development, they have maintained their roots. At its heart, Milnor is a family company. Founded by W.A. Pellerin, wife Mildred, son Norvin, and brother-in-law A.W. “Jack” Walsdorf in 1947, Pellerin Milnor Corporation began manufacturing 20″ extractors. From humble beginnings, Milnor (trade name derived from MILdred and NORvin) gained respect and a valued reputation for durable and efficient laundry machinery.
