District 9 recognition awards were presented at the November 2021 Section General Meeting to those members who were in attendance. One of the many deserving precipitants to have their awards presented at the Section meeting was Mr. William H Wilson who has been recognized for the Section Educator Award for 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. Mr. Wilson will be retiring soon from Delgado Community College and the Louisiana Technical and Community College System were he has dedicated many years of contributions to the Welding Industry and the local community by educating individuals in the art of welding. The New Orleans Section wishes to congratulate Mr. Wilson on his retirement and his many years of service.
Additional Section Members in attendance that were being recognized were Mr. Travis Moore, Section Meritorious 2018/2019, Mr. DJ Berger, Section Meritorious 2019/2020, Mr. Joe Carbo, Section CWI 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, and Mr. Aldo Duron, Private Sector Instructor Section Award 2019/2020. On December 9, 2021, District 9 Director Mike Skiles, New Orleans Section Chairman Bruce Hallila, and New Orleans Section Program Chairman Joe Carbo, made a very special visit to Mr. Tony DeMarco’s residence in Harahan, Louisiana, to formally present him with the District Director Certificate Award 2020/2021 and the District Meritorious Award 2020/2021. The Officers of the AWS New Orleans would like to thank our District 9 Director, Mr. Mike Skiles, for his dedication in coordinating the recognition of our Section Members for these awards.
