Rather than having our typical large gathering for this event the section sent AWS CWIs to each participating school to witness students weld a 3G open root test using SMAW. The CWIs collected the weldments which were brought together to be visually inspected and destructively tested to determine a winner. The top three welders were:
First Place: Kadyn Puhl (Big Bend Technical College)
Second Place: Jeremy Thomas (Marion Technical College)
Third Place: Andrew Parrish (North Florida Technical College)
The first place trophy was designed and fabricated by Dallas Maynard our section secretary. (see image below)
