Greetings Northern Plains Section AWS Members,

 

In the last year we have seen a change in many things around us. The Covid-19 epidemic has changed the way we work and attended meetings. This has put our section’s meetings, events and outings on hold. Hopefully soon things will be getting back to normal. 

 

The section’s executive committee has been meeting looking for ideas on what we could do during these times. The executive committee is a policy making board to govern the section. It is not meant to rule what activities, events, and meetings section members would like to have. This is where you come in as a member. We are looking for ideas on what you as members would like to see. 

 

Section meetings are a wealth of information and one of the best ways to network yourself or your company. Some of the ideas and meetings in the past have been plant tours, demonstrations, seminars and speakers. Some of those members had the opportunity to earn Professional Development Hours (PDH), needed of recertification, at these events. Unfortunately, our section has not been able to have our Behind the Mask Welding Competition this year because of Covid-19 guidelines, hopefully soon we can again offer this opportunity for High School and Post-Secondary students to showcase their skills. Our section’s annual golf outing was not held for the same reason, but is currently in the planning stages for this summer. With all our new technology that Covid-19 made everyone become familiar with brings new opportunities for our section. Our Northern Plains section could set up Zoom type meetings for many activities.
