Ladies and Gentlemen,

Below is the list of candidates for the 2021 – 2023 AWS North Texas Board. We have prepared a brief biography of each candidate who was nominated and agreed to accept the position if elected. This is your opportunity to cast your vote for your representatives. A non-response will be considered as a yes vote in favor of the candidate(s) with the largest responses.

Feel free to write in a candidate who you would like to have represent you on the board if you have a suggestion.

Voting will end on May 17th at noon so we can count the votes and announce the new board members on May 18th at the Scholarship Awards Presentation. If you would like to join us, the live meeting will be held at:

Your 2021 – 2023 Candidates are:

Chairman Nominee(s):

            Paul Stanglin – Paul has worked for the City of Irving for over 37 years dealing with heavy equipment welding repairs, design and manufacturing of special projects and tools. He has over 40 years of experience in metal working as he started in his fathers machine shop manufacturing various parts for the aerospace industry. He has been involved with AWS North Texas Section since 1995 and been on the board since 2003. He has served as Scholarship Chairman since 2008 and Certification Chairman since 2012. He is currently the Section Treasurer and has served as Chairman in the past.

            Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family whether it be at the movies, camping, hunting or fishing. He also like working on cars and some occasional wood working projects.

            Thomas Gongloff – Thomas works for Safran Power Units of Dallas is a well-rounded welder/machinist. Thomas has been in the welding industry since 2001, when he attended a Technical College for welding certification. He is proficient in multiple welding types/materials and machining techniques. FAA certified TIG welder (AWS D17.1) fillet and vertical butt in Stainless Steel (310, 316, and 321), Alloy Steel, and Inconel (22 guage). He maintains compliance to SOPs, ISO and internal quality systems as well six sigma and 5S. He has developed systems to increase overall efficiency and achieved an 11% reduction in process times. From supervisory roles to his daily work routine, Thomas has always prioritized tasks, anticipated needs, and made adjustments to ensure he,  and his personnel, produced a significant volume of work to support build schedules within tight deadlines. 

When he’s not spending time with his wife and two young sons, he enjoys designing, fabricating and welding custom ironwork and multi-media (wood and metal) projects. Thomas was raised in a family of automotive enthusiasts and has carried on the tradition by welding, fabricating, repairing and restoring classic cars. He and his family also enjoy all types of motorsports.
