Title: Laser Peening Process
Speaker: David Lahrman, Vice President of Business Development LSP Technologies, Inc.
Laser peening is a surface enhancement method for extending the life of metal components. Laser peening improves fatigue life and damage tolerance by imparting deep compressive residual stresses that inhibit crack propagation. The compressive residual stresses generated by laser peening typically extend five to ten times deeper than those produced by shot peening, ensuring more robust components with longer service lifetimes.
