Save the Date:1st Section Meeting of 2021 – Thursday, January 28th at 5pm PST

1st Meeting of 2021!

Dear chapter 109 (San Fernando Valley Ventura and North LA County):

Due to Covid-19 restrictions AWS Section 109 (San Fernando Valley) has not had an in-person meeting for 2020. With no end in sight for lock down until late 2021 we are going to have a Zoom meeting at 5:00pm PST January 28, 2021 to start the new year.

We will be discussing how we must move our Section forward into the coming years. We will have a talk on how belonging to the AWS can benefit your company or personal life. We will discuss the new Scholarship program implemented in 2020, serving our students within our Section. We will also have a presentation on welding automation and how such processes can help even small companies.

Need Board Members:

Our AWS Section needs your help! We need dedicated welding people to help us move our Section into the future. There are many challenges that we need to meet to help the welding community family of the Section 109 (San Fernando Valley Ventura and North LA County). We have made some small steps in 2020 but now need your help and support.

We have board positions that need to be filled so that we can keep going as an organization and better serve the welding members of our Section and the education of our welding community.

WE NEED THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Second Vice Chair (position is currently open)
  2. Secretary (position is currently open)
  3. Treasurer (Our present treasurer will be leaving in June and we would like a smooth transition)
  4. Education Chairperson (We need to continue our efforts to support students in welding education)
  5. Publicity Chairperson (position is currently open)

Please consider giving just a little of your time in support of this great organization.

Scholarships

We are looking for companies or personal donations to set up scholarships to support our local Section welding students. Many of us forget the true costs to achieve welding certifications or degrees. Class fees, supplies and equipment add up and make it hard for students without outside support to complete or even enter a program.

The AWS has a program where just $10,000.00 will start a scholarship in perpetuity in your, or your company’s name. AWS matches the fund so the 2% will be awarded each year through their scholarship program. Maybe you have someone who is responsible for your success that you could name, it all goes to the betterment of our young members and supports our educational systems.
