Message to Members

Utah Section 59 Members,

Welcome back from a long respite due to many factors, among which was the pandemic. We are excited to get back after it and introduce you to our schedule for the 2021/2022 year!

We are going to kick off the 2021/2022 year with an educational meeting and an awards banquet. This will be held at 6:30 pm on September 16, 2021 at the Mountainland Technical College Trades and Technology Building Welding shop and Multipurpose room (2301 Ashton Blvd, Lehi, UT). We will begin with a workshop on robotic welding cells, followed by a banquet/awards presentation for recipients and membership. We are trying to get the workshop approved for PDH time for the CWI’s among us to get renewal credit for attending. Please RSVP to Section Chair Gordon Reynolds at [email protected] by 9/2/21 to reserve a seat. Seating will be limited to 80, so please reply asap.

Our next meeting will be on November 18, 2021. We will be holding a Turkey Shoot, site to be announced. Again, we would ask that you RSVP in advance (by 11/4/2021) to reserve a spot for the shoot. Prizes will be awarded and pizza will be served.

Our first meeting of 2022 will be held on January 19, 2022, The site for this meeting will be Mountainland Technical College at 2301West Business Park Drive Lehi, UT. The meeting will be held in room 102 of the Trades and Technology building. This will be another meeting for PDH credit for CWI renewal. Larry Zirker will be our speaker and will present on, “Metallurgy Made Easy.” This will be followed by dinner for all attendees.

Our final meeting for the year will be on April 20, 2022 again hosted at Mountainland Technical College at 2301West Business Park Drive Lehi, UT. The meeting will be held in room 102 of the Trades and Technology building.This event will be for elections for section officers to include; Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Please send nominations for these seats to Gordon Reynolds at [email protected]. All nominations must be received by midnight on 4/1/2022 to be placed on the ballot.

We hope you will make time in your busy schedules to participate in and support the activities we have planned for the coming months. Also, please consider serving in one of the many leadership positions that will be on the ballot. It is through our membership and your willingness to serve that keeps the Society going in our area, and we are always looking for new input and ideas on how to better serve you and your professional needs.
